Elections
Well, election season is here. Now in all honesty I do not like to pick a candidate. That is not ever the objective of this little blog. But there are a few issues I think we all can discuss and debate.
First, I hate to see someone sell their vote – or a candidate buy votes with promises of give-aways. If you vote for someone because they promise “free” abortions, or “free” $25,000 to buy a house, or “free” cell phones, or “free” transgender operations, or forgiveness of student loans, etc. then I have no respect for you. You were bought. Because tax payers are picking up the bills. Look at the costs “sanctuary cities” (their residents) are paying for illegal aliens (I use the word aliens because that is the wording in the federal laws). No respect for those bought because us little tax payers are paying.
Next, I do not vote for any candidate who wants to raise any tax. Don’t tell me you will only increase taxes on the rich, or corporations, or only those making more than $400,000. That is bull feces. Increase taxes on a company and costs are passed on to us (inflation?). Increase taxes on individuals over a certain income level and we all are impacted. Increase taxes on capital gains and we all pay more. And we should all avoid this crap about unrealized capital gains. Does a tax on unrealized capital gains mean I have to pay more taxes because my house went up in value over the last year even though I haven’t sold my house? And who determines the value of my house (oh yeah I forgot someone in the government). And if you have a 401 K with stocks and bonds you have to pay taxes on the increase of value even though you haven’t sold. Or what about when you retire – more taxes? Look, I think I already pay too much tax now.
Lastly, voter ID. My vote is my vote. I don’t want some other yahoo voting in my name. If I wanted to stuff ballots all I would do is find out who cannot go to vote and I could show up using their name and vote – unless I had to show ID. And don’t give me any garbage about people not being able to get an ID. Come on. There are state ID’s, Federal ID’s, licenses, passports, etc. And mail-in ballots are the easiest to abuse. Just check someone’s mail box and bam! If you ain’t a resident and citizen then you can’t vote. What’s next? Will our candidates be campaigning in France, Russia, China, and Venezuela?
These things need to be addressed by we the people. But then again I’m an old guy and I just don’t get it…..
