I don’t like to talk a lot about elections during the election season. I keep my voting to myself. But the 2024 elections are over. My state level voting was bad for me. My federal voting wasn’t too bad for me. Oh well, time for me to accept the results. But what is concerning to me is the rhetoric being spewed by by Democrat governors who don’t like the results. States run by democrats like California, Washington, New York, Massachusetts, etc. have democrat governors pledging to protect the rights of their citizens from actions by a newly elected President of the US. But these same governors don’t say what rights they are protecting their citizens from. One even goes so[…]

My mom, may she rest in peace, used to say, “It’s OK to disagree with someone. It is never OK to be impolite.” I have tried hard to follow her advice but wow, I am witnessing what I can only call nonsensical, stupid behavior towards our immigration enforcers in states like New York, Minnesota, and California. Such ignorance needs some words. Sorry Mom… We live in a Republic where we elect legislators to pass laws, courts to interpret laws and try transgressors, and elect executives to enforce passed laws. Cops are the the folks that do the arresting. When executives like governors and district attorneys choose to ignore federal or local laws or impede enforcement they are dictators. When protestors[…]

The Democrats closed down the Federal Government over healthcare subsidies needed to shore up Obama Care (ACA). Democrats never acknowledged that $$$ flowed into insurance company coffers for nothing. Democrats never admitted they wanted free healthcare for illegal aliens. Bottom line: Obama Care is only used by less than 10% of the population and we, the tax payers, are paying approximately $15,000 per year for each person using Obama Care (ACA). And who got the money -insurance companies. What a gig. So in the midst of all this bruhaha I thought I would give some of my own thoughts. These recommendations come from my own experience – and I have been to many rodeos. Doctor Shortage: Try to get a[…]

OK, here is one that really baffles me. Why is the Federal Government shut down? Why is one political party causing this? The same party that has voted many times for CRs to keep the Federal Government running. First a reminder: 85% of the Federal Government is open. It is 15% (discretionary) that is closed. The Democrats (the party keeping the Government closed) claim that they a re preventing some healthcare price increase from happening. This affects only 8% of the population. We all suffer for the 8%. The same Democrats want to provide Illegal Aliens FREE healthcare. I wish I had free healthcare. So, about ten years ago President Obama and the Democrats passed what is known as Obama[…]

Has anyone not seen parents at kids athletic events behaving badly? When you are with parents at a get together do you here parents bragging their kid’s accomplishments? When you ask these parents whether they are proud of their kid’s accomplishments do they not say “yes.” So, let me see….. These parents are proud their kid scored a basket. These parents are proud their kid graduated from college. They are proud of their kid’s medals, trophies, grades, etc. Well, I must be crazy. I am not proud of my kid’s accomplishments. I am happy for my kids. I will take my three kids and stack them up against any family in the world. My family boasts a kid who finished[…]

I have been thinking about this for a couple of weeks. About two to three weeks ago I read an article by a 30-something listing the most annoying habits or behaviors conducted by us old folks, And she was right, Where she went wrong was she didn’t explain anything. I feel sorry for her parents and grandparents. Her article was nothing but a list of gripes. Don’t get me wrong I am sure many of my behaviors or habits piss my 40-something kids off. And they make the same mistake this author of the article I read. BTW: I found a multitude of articles written by young’ins making the same bitches (sorry, I meant to type complaints). A “bitch” is[…]

Now, I write this with a little knowledge about teaching kids. My wife was an elementary school teacher for 30 years. Son 1 graduated from West Point and has Masters Degree from Harvard. Son 2 graduated from a state college with a degree in Accounting (finished a 5 year program in 4 years), and daughter graduated from West Point and went on to get an MBA and a Masters in Computer Science from Boston U. And don’t think they were blessed with exceptional talents. Nope. They attended public schools but had old style teaching. And like all kids they were dumb as rocks. But mom and dad pushed their schooling – and they had old style teachers. My kids grew[…]

So the Department of Education is slowly going away. And there are a whole lot of folks out there are really worried and concerned. They want us to believe that public education will tube without this bureaucratic institution. Well, I don’t get it. All my public education happened BEFORE there was this department. I was old school back in the day when this bureaucracy did not exist. In those days our public education was the envy of the world. Then in 1979 a guy by the name of President Carter decided to help us out. So he creates this Department of Education. And slowly over time this bureaucracy takes over education. States and local school boards begin to take a[…]

Wow. What a shakeup! Finally we are getting a look into where OUR money is going and what we are paying for – and it ain’t pretty. And all those Democrats like Strickland or Cantwell or Murray, are scurrying. Talk about a lack of common sense…. Let’s set the table straight – DOGE is an analytical, advisory body. They don’t fire anyone. They look, analyze, and recommend. Actual Senate confirmed secretaries make the decisions. Take for example USAID. DOGE found almost 300 sycophants in USAID but it was Secretary Rubio that shut down those government positions eliminating federal jobs. He laid off those people. He was confirmed by the Senate. And don’t feel sorry for them. They are taken care[…]

My wife and I are truly blessed. We worked hard, kept our noses clean. And we are part of the very few with pensions and social security checks. Thank you, thank God. But every tax season we have to file taxes on our pensions AND social security. Pensions I get, but social security? Because of our pensions, which we earned, we fall into an income bracket that requires we pay taxes on social security. Now, when you look at this from the outside, it makes no sense to me. You give me money but then at the end of the year you are taking some back? And I won’t know how much I am giving back until I file? So[…]

Like oodles (meaning many) I have been watching the new College Professional Football Playoffs. And what I see saddens me. College football and the age of the college football student athlete are gone. I think that the current Playoff system, the NIL (Name – Image – Likeness) rules. and the transfer portal each by themselves are not bad but when combined have created a new PROFESSIONAL College football league in competition with the NFL. Look, a kid (and we must remember these are kids) should be able to go to the school they want if accepted by the school. And if someone is selling their name on jerseys and bobbleheads they should get a cut. But when all is combined[…]
