Impeachment Again
Well, here we go again. The Democrats not satisfied with winning the Presidential election now want what appears to be revenge. Does their hate of a man run so deep that they want to put additional nails in a coffin? Or are they afraid of something? And have they chosen a possible Chinese spy to lead their efforts? I don’t get it.
So being a dumb guy I always like to research a little bit. I listen to the Democrat politicians, the democrat pundits and even a few Democrat family members and all I hear is “insurrection” and “incite” and “revolt.” But when I ask whether anyone knows the definitions of those words or even if they know the actual charges I get gobbledy gook for answers. So I do a little reading.
First up is the question of the charge. Apparently there is only one: “incitement of insurrection.” Okay, got it. That is what the democrats are hanging their hats on. And my family members didn’t even know that. So was his crime incitement? Does this mean any speech by any politician can be called incitement?
Next is process. The guy wasn’t even allowed to defend himself before the House. And he was given only a couple of weeks to prepare a defense. Of course, Nancy and Chucky have all the democrats completely under their thumbs. Is there a Democrat out there that can think for themselves? I don’t get this lock step.
Third is the question of constitutionality. The guy is a private citizen now. Impeachment was intended to remove someone from office. Are we going to have Congress now impeach every Military Officer or Civil Servant since they are appointed? Are we going to do away with Federal Courts? Why not just send every Federal appointee before the Senate for every Federal crime? When did Congress get the power to try private citizens? Am I next?
Okay, so I do a little reading. I read the definition of insurrection (according to Webster): an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government. I also read the definition of revolt (Webster again): to renounce allegiance or subjection: Rebel: renouncing of allegiance. Well, in my old brain I saw a riot. Don’t get me wrong (as I have written in an earlier blog) I don’t support riots. Protests yes. Riots no. But what I saw on TV was NOT insurrection nor a revolt. You can’t be revolting when you are carrying an American flag. Private property was not damaged. Just as Seattle and Portland riots this was not an insurrection. No one was revolting against the established government nor was anyone renouncing their allegiance to the US. They were unhappy and just like Seattle (and CHOP) and Portland a protest turned into a riot. Good to protest, bad to riot. How can Trump be accused of insurrection when in his speech he said: “ … We’re supposed to protect our country, support our country, support our Constitution, and protect our constitution.” He also said: “… Together, we are determined to defend and preserve government of the people, by the people and for the people.” Doesn’t sound like insurrection or revolt to me. Of course, maybe the Democrats want to impeach Lincoln now? Lincoln was a Republican.
That leaves “incite.” I again turned to Webster: to move to action: stir up: spur on: urge on. I have never heard a speech by any politician that did not want to incite something. A vote, support for a cause, a donation, something. So was Trump inciting the crowd to violence when he said in his speech: “… Anyone you want, but I think right here, we’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them…” And he also said “… I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard…” Yep, incitement. Insurrection? Violence? Peacefully? Patriotically? I am old so maybe I’m missing something. Or maybe people need to read and think?
So, I remain confused. What do the Democrats want? What is the basis of their efforts? I am convinced that if Nancy, Chucky, and Big Tech come after me my two Senators and Congresswoman will be first in line to help them destroy me. I won’t be afforded due process either. What is really funny is that I don’t like Trump. But I do acknowledge his successes and what he accomplished for our country.
I’m an old guy and I don’t get it…
