Schools Closed

If my feeble memory of history is correct it was a Democrat president that warned against public/government employee unions way back in the 1930’s. Where I live school teachers are public/government employees. About half of my property taxes go to the local school district. Almost all the public school teachers are union members while almost none of the private school teachers are.

The Chinese Virus has closed the schools in my state and county – except for the private schools. The state conducted a study on the Chinese Virus spreading in schools during the last five months of 2020. The results are amazing. Maybe?

In five months a total of approximately 305 Chinese Virus cases attributed to schools were recorded. These cases occurred in only approximately 31% of the counties in my state. Only 51% of the cases were children under the age of 19. 49% were staff and faculty. About 31% were in private schools leaving 69% in public schools. The state even attributed 6% of the cases to remote learning. How do you attribute cases to people not in school? Only 12% of cases were attributed to in-person learning. 12% for schools where kids are actually attending? I am getting more confused.

There were NO hospitalizations and NO ONE died.

In my county there were no school cases reported. There were no hospitalizations reported. There were no deaths due to the Chinese Virus in schools.

So why are the public schools in my county still closed?

I’m an old guy and I don’t get it……
