Throughout the years my wife and I borrowed money. We bought a couple of houses and a few cars. We had credit cards. We always thought that when we dropped the plastic or took out a car loan we were giving our word to pay the money back. When my wife went back to college and my kids went to college and we took out a student loans we thought we were giving our word to pay the loans back. We sacrificed to pay those loans. We did not ask others to pay those loans.

Now we have a political party bent on “forgiving” student loans. In other words, using tax payer money to pay off those loans. That means not only did my wife and I get to pay off her and the kids’ loans now we get the chance to pay other’s loans?

If a kid wants to borrow a lot of money to study highly marketable subjects like “gender studies” then he or she and their parents should pay it back. They should not be demanding other people pay their bills. I wasn’t consulted so why should I pay? My wife studied teaching and my kids studied computer science, engineering, and accounting. We have paid it back and all have done well. And the loans are paid.

Our word isn’t cheap. We have pride. If kids want to borrow money to study subjects that aren’t marketable so be it. Why can’t everyone be the same and accountable for borrowed money? Why are we forgiving any loan made by an adult?

BTW: My house is 80% paid for can I get some forgiveness on my mortgage? Don’t worry we paid the car off.

I’m and old guy and I don’t get it……
